On October 3, local time, UN Secretary-General Guterres issued a statement through a spokesman welcoming Hamas's statement of readiness to release hostages and willingness to communicate on the basis of the recent proposals put forward by U.S. President Trump.

In the statement, Guterres thanked Qatar and Egypt for their important role in promoting mediation.A permanent ceasefire must be achieved immediately, all hostages must be immediately and unconditionally released, and humanitarian aid must be allowed to enter Gaza unhindered.¡£

Guterres stressed that the UN will fully support all relevant efforts to avoid further suffering from conflict.
