U.S. judge rules ban on large-scale offshore drilling during Biden's term illegal

On October 3, local time, US District Judge James Cain of Lake Charles, Louisiana, ruled,The extensive ban on offshore oil and gas development announced by former President Joe Biden in the final days of his term exceeds his executive power and is illegal

Biden attempted to permanently ban future drilling on the East Coast of the United States, the Eastern Gulf of Mexico and parts of the Alaska Sea under the OCSLA (Outer Continental Shelf Land Act). Shortly thereafter, President Trump signed an executive order to lift the ban.

The Court considers,Biden's decision is not legitimate due to intent to'make it permanent 'According to the judgment, the similar initiative of former President Obama also poses the same problem, saying that such a practice “is beyond the consistent practice of the administrative department and beyond the scope of the law.”
