Ukraine says energy infrastructure has been hit by missiles and drones

On October 3, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine said on social media that the Russian military launched large-scale missile and drone attacks on energy infrastructure in several states of Ukraine.

Ukraine's Ministry of Energy said the focus of Russian attacks was on natural gas transmission facilities. Ukrainian rescuers and technical experts are repairing relevant facilities.

Vladimir Kogut, director of Ukraine's Poltava Oblast Military Administration, posted on social media that in the early morning of that day, Poltava Oblast was attacked by missiles and drones, and local energy infrastructure was damaged.

Poltava Oblast is an important oil and natural gas production base in Ukraine. According to Ukrainian media reports, since February this year, the Russian army has launched repeated attacks on oil refineries and natural gas production facilities in Poltava Oblast, causing Ukraine's natural gas production capacity to drop sharply by more than 40%, which has had a serious impact on Ukraine's natural gas reserves for wintering this winter.

The Ukrainian Air Force posted on social media that from the evening of the 2nd to the early morning of the 3rd, the Russian army launched 381 drones and 35 missiles into Ukraine from Kursk Oblast, Bryansk Oblast, Rostov, Oryol Oblast, Smolensk, and Krasnodar Territory. The Russian military's attacks focused on critical infrastructure, especially the energy infrastructure in Kharkiv Oblast and Poltava regions. In addition, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Odessa, and Kiev regions were also attacked by Russian troops. As of 10 a.m. on the 3rd, Ukrainian air defense firepower and electronic warfare forces had intercepted 303 drones and 17 missiles.
