Venezuelan President: Venezuela will hold nationwide military-civilian drills

On October 2, Venezuelan President Maduro, citing the latest poll, said that 94% of respondents across the country oppose any form of threat or aggression from the United States.

At the event, Maduro also announced that Venezuela will hold a national, organised exercise on Saturday (4 October) with the participation of the military and the militia. The exercise aims to focus on the calibration of command and communication systems, without involving the mobile deployment of weapons and equipment.

The U.S. has deployed several warships in the Caribbean waters near Venezuela with the so-called “fight against Latin American drug trafficking groups.” Venezuela has conducted three-day military exercises in northern Oshira Island to raise combat readiness in the Caribbean waters. Venezuelan President Maduro said on September 22 that the U.S. military threat did not only fail, but instead brought the Venezuelan people more together. On the evening of September 26, Maduro said that if national security was hit by external military attacks, the Venezuelan government was prepared to take extraordinary response measures according to law.
