Israel: Not a single ship broke through the blockade

Israel has imposed a maritime blockade on the Gaza Strip since the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) seized control of the Gaza Strip in 2007. The "Global Resilience Flotilla" seeks to break the blockade and deliver humanitarian supplies to the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on social media on Monday that no “global fleet” of vessels broke the Israeli blockade, and all of the personnel on board were safe and in good health, they were being sent to Israel and would then be deported, and the last vessel in the distance would also be intercepted if it approached and tried to enter the war zone and broke the blockade.

According to Israeli media citing military news reports on Monday, the Israeli army controlled 41 ships during the interception operation of the "Global Endurance Fleet" on the evening of 1 to 2 in the morning, detaining more than 400 people.

According to military reports, Israeli naval assault forces, missile fleets, port security forces and others participated in the interception operation, controlling the fleet that carried humanitarian supplies to the Gaza Strip. The Israeli army first boarded six large ships, then controlled small ships, and the entire operation lasted about 12 hours.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his appreciation for the Israeli army's interception of the fleet on the 2nd, saying that the operation prevented dozens of ships from "entering the war zone."

Multiple parties accuse Israel of violating international law

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned Israel's violation of international law. Hamas condemned Israel's interception of the flotilla as a "criminal act".

On the 2nd, South African President Ramaphosa criticized Israel's interception of the humanitarian cargo flotilla as "violating international law" and urged Israel to immediately release the multinational people detained by it.

Erdogan said the Israeli government’s attacks on civilians in international waters once again demonstrated the “madness” of its leadership that they carried out genocide and tried to cover up crimes committed in the Gaza Strip.

Qatar's Foreign Ministry issued a statement condemning Israel's flagrant violations of international law, urging Israel to ensure the safety and immediate release of the personnel on board.

Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maxim Prevo denounced the Israeli interception of the vessels "unacceptable", saying he had summoned the Israeli ambassador in Belgium.

Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Alvarez summoned the Chargé d'affaires of the Israeli Embassy in Spain on the 2nd. Alvarez said that 65 Spaniards participated in this humanitarian operation, and they did not pose any threat to Israel.

Colombian President Petro announced on Monday the expulsion of all Israeli diplomats in the country in response to the Israeli detention of two Colombian citizens in international waters while intercepting the “global robust fleet”.

Since the outbreak of the Israeli conflict in October 2023, Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip have resulted in more than 660,000 deaths and a deep humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip. During this process, Israel has received U.S. support but is increasingly isolated internationally. A number of Western countries such as Britain, Canada, Australia, France and others have announced their recognition of the Palestinian state during the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
