Direct shot 丨 Philippine earthquake search and rescue work ends, the government shifts its focus to post-disaster reconstruction

On the evening of September 30 local time, a 6.9-magnitude earthquake occurred in Cebu Province, Philippines, which has killed more than 60 people and injured more than 200 others. At 13:00 local time on October 2, the Philippine Civil Defense Administration announced that it would stop search and rescue work. Disaster relief and post-disaster reconstruction have become the focus of the government's work.

General reporter Huang Zhengzheng:On our way to Bogotá, we encountered a lot of villagers like me behind us, and we could see them holding the signs “We need food” and “We need water” in their hands, calling for help from people who passed by.

Local villagers by Joan Huraddo:We don't eat, we still need some money to buy baby milk powder, diaper, etc. Water, we really need water.

Local villagers say they are currently choosing to live outdoors due to fear of the quake. In Bogo City, staff are repairing the torn roads. In the city, the building debris damaged by the earthquake is still everywhere, and many areas have set up warning lines to prevent people from approaching.

General reporter Huang Zhengzheng:We now come to a commercial neighborhood in Bogotá.You can see the building behind me has completely collapsed in the earthquake, there are hotels and shops. The road in front of us is also in a cracked state, and the collapsed houses have also crashed into passing vehicles.

Senior Inspector of the Philippine Fire Department Severance Bonier:Now there is an extra earthquake and sometimes a strong earthquake, so our fire department is here to ensure safety. Tell people here is still dangerous, especially those store owners, we understand that they want to take back the goods, but we still remind them to be careful and also remind the people who pass by to be careful.

With the road cleaning completed, rescue forces and aid materials from all over the Philippines have arrived in the disaster areas, but tents, food and drinking water are still unable to meet the needs of the disaster victims, and the government will further strengthen its rescue efforts.
