Federal Emergency Management Agency suspends emergency preparedness funding to states

On October 2, local time, CCTV reporters learned that the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) suspended the distribution of emergency preparedness funds to states, requiring states to prove their population data first. According to the agency, because the grant amount is allocated proportionately to the population, some states may have received excessive funds.

Such grants totaled more than $300 million last year to support local communities' disaster response preparedness. (CCTV reporter Liu Xiaoqian)
