On October 2, local time, the Venezuelan Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a joint announcement, strongly condemning and resolutely opposing the provocative approach flight of American aircraft. The announcement stated that this act threatened Venezuela's sovereignty and regional stability, and violated international law and the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation.

According to the announcement, the situation regarding the movements of US military aircraft was confirmed by the Venezuelan Integrated Aerospace Defense Command (CODAI). The announcement showed that the activity of multiple U.S. fighter jets was detected that day in the Maitia Flight Information Region (FIR), about 75 kilometers away from the coast of Venezuela.

The announcement also stated that Venezuela will report this to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Security Council, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
