Russia-Iran Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty officially enters into force

According to a statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry on October 2, the comprehensive strategic partnership treaty signed by the Russian side with Iran in January this year officially entered into force on October 2.

The treaty defines the key directions for the long-term development of all priority areas of bilateral cooperation and stipulates strengthening international cooperation in the multipolar world, including close cooperation within the framework of major multilateral organizations, joint efforts to safeguard regional stability and security and address common challenges and threats.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Pezehizyan signed a comprehensive strategic partnership treaty in Moscow on January 17th. According to the information previously disclosed on the Russian President's website, the treaty covers national defense, anti-terrorism, energy, finance, industry, agriculture, culture, transportation, science and technology and other fields. The treaty is valid for 20 years and is automatically extended for 5 years when it expires.
