Turkish Interior Minister Yelikaia said on October 2 that the Turkish police carried out a massive drug search operation across the country on the same day and detained a total of 189 suspected drug traffickers.

Yelikaia revealed on social media that the main target of the operation was street drug traffickers, where police gathered evidence of criminal activity before the operation and locked the suspects through technical means and field surveillance.

Turkey spans Asia and Europe, and many international drug smuggling routes pass through its territory. Since May 2023, Turkey has stepped up its efforts to crack down on drug crimes and cracked a large number of drug trafficking-related cases.
