According to U.S. Radio 1 on October 1, several U.S. officials said:About 200 to 250 National Guard members began reporting in the city of Portland, Oregon, on the same day, and received preliminary military training on how to cope with civil unrest in a Democratic-dominated city.The National Guards are expected to be deployed to the streets of Portland next week.

The U.S. broadcaster that the National Guard members were told their task was to ¡°defend federal buildings and federal employees.¡±

Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield announced on September 28th that Oregon and Portland had filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration in order to prevent the latter from "illegally deploying" 200 Oregon National Guard members to Portland.
