The Washington Post on October 1 local time quoted two informed persons and obtained documents as saying that the Pentagon plans to enforce strict confidentiality agreements on a large number of its internal personnel, including several senior officials, and conduct random lying tests.

According to a draft memorandum draft by U.S. Deputy Defence Secretary Steve Vanberg, all military, civilian and contract workers in the Defence Secretary and Joint Chiefs of Staff ¡ª an estimated more than 5,000 ¡ª are required to sign a confidentiality agreement that ¡°prohibits the disclosure of unapproved or regulated information.¡±

According to the report, Vanderberg¡¯s other document states that a random lying detection mechanism will be established against officials. According to the proposed policy, relevant subjects will face random lying tests and regular security review interviews in the future. An anonymous official revealed that the unsigned and undated document is still under consideration and has not yet been approved.
