Breaking-News >> WorldNews Poland detains Ukrainian suspect of North Stream bombing for seven days
The Warsaw Regional Court in Poland on October 1 approved the Prosecutor’s Office’s application for a seven-day detention of a Ukrainian man suspected of involvement in the explosion of the “North Stream” gas pipeline. According to the Polish Press Agency, the man was arrested on September 30 in a city near Warsaw under a European arrest warrant issued by a German court. Warsaw Regional Prosecutor's Office spokesman Skibua said the court will hear and decide whether to extradite the man to Germany, with a trial period of 100 days. Polish media have previously cited reports from Germany that the man, a diving coach, sailed from northern Germany in a yacht to the Baltic Sea in September 2022 and submerged underwater and placed explosives on the underwater pipeline. On September 26, 2022, the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 submarine gas pipelines connecting Russia and Germany and other European countries to the Baltic Sea exploded violently in waters near Denmark and Sweden, leaking a large amount of natural gas.
