On October 1, local time, Colombian President Petro condemned Israel on social media, saying that it had arrested personnel of the "Global Fortitude Flotilla" supporting the Gaza Strip. He demanded the release of two Colombians involved in the operation, and said that if his citizens were arrested, Israeli diplomats in Colombia would be expelled.

The Global Resistance Fleet, launched from Spain on August 31, is the largest naval mission fleet ever to Gaza, bringing together more than 50 ships and representatives from at least 44 countries and territories as part of an international effort to challenge the Israeli naval blockade and deliver aid to Gaza.
