On October 1, local time, the Fashil Resistance Committee, a local organization in northwestern Darfur state, issued a statement saying that the state's capital city of Fashil was attacked by drones that day, killing eight civilians and wounding several others.
The statement accused the Sudanese Rapid Support Force of launching the attack, saying that one of its drones threw multiple bombs at a residential area in the western part of the city of El Fasher, causing casualties. The Rapid Support Force has not responded to the attack.
On April 15, 2023, armed clashes broke out between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces in the capital Khartoum, and the fighting subsequently spread to other areas. The armed conflict that lasted for more than two years has killed nearly 30,000 people and displaced more than 12 million people. Darfur is one of the main battlefields of the conflict. Among the five states under the jurisdiction of the region, except North Darfur, the other four states have been controlled by the Rapid Support Forces. Since May 2024, the two sides of the conflict have been fighting continuously over control of El Fasher city. (Headquarters reporter Zhao Yuanfang)
