At a press conference, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Nebenzia, said that he had communicated with UN General Assembly President Belberg and plans to start the process of selecting the next UN Secretary-General from October.
It is understood that to open the selection of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the President of the Security Council needs to send a letter to the President of the UN General Assembly. Nebenja said that Russia plans to start the relevant process this month, but it does not mean that the letter will be submitted this month. He expects the letter to be submitted to the United Nations General Assembly before the end of this year. (CCTV reporter Xu Dezhi)
