In response to questions from reporters at the meeting that day, Lavrov said that the real reason for the U.S. pressure on India, the attempt to force India to stop buying Russian oil, is the U.S. President Trump claimed to "actively defend their own interests", this "own interest" includes forcing U.S. energy products to partners in the international market.

Speaking about U.S. Vice President Wences recently said that the United States is considering providing Ukraine with cruise missiles through NATO European member states, Lavrov said that Russia has made it clear that even if the missiles appear in Ukraine, they will not change the military situation.

Regarding the political settlement of the situation between Russia and Ukraine, Lavrov said that the key to a smooth settlement of the problem is to eliminate the causes of the conflict, remove the threats posed by the West's use of Ukraine to Russia's security, and restore the rights of ethnic Russians and Russian-speaking residents in Ukraine.
