Xinhua News Agency, Panama City, September 30 (Reporter Xu Yongzheng) The new Pakistan-China Friendship Group of the National Assembly of Panama was established in Panama City, the capital, on the 29th, aiming at strengthening exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.

Panama and China have complementary strategic interests, said Panama¡¯s geographical location is critical to international trade, while China is one of the major engines of the global economy and a model for scientific and technological innovation.The Pakistani-Chinese Friendship Group aims to open up channels for bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade, education and culture.

Valkyria Chandler, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the National Assembly of Panama, believes that the Chinese community has a long history in Panama, which has enriched the country's social structure, economy and culture "in an immeasurable way" and is an indispensable part of Panama.

Xu Xueyuan, China's Ambassador to Panama, expressed warm congratulations on the establishment of the new group and looked forward to the group becoming the backbone of China-Pakistan parliamentary exchanges, the defender of the one China principle, the pioneer of China-Pakistan cooperation and the disseminator of China-Pakistan friendship.
