The international community should make every effort to get millions of people in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo out of their suffering at an early date and see the dawn of lasting peace.

Sun Li stressed that China is calling for an end to hostilities. Security Council Resolution 2773 must be implemented, acts of harming civilians and violating international humanitarian law must be stopped, and acts of murder of innocent persons must be held accountable. The parties to the conflict must implement a lasting ceasefire as an overwhelming prerequisite and stop acts that may lead to escalation of the situation. In recent years, progress in the implementation of the peace agreement between Congo (Kim) and Rwanda has lagged, and the prospects are not clear. China encourages parties to show political will and fulfill their commitments. The international community should continue to support the Qatar cycle and push the M23 movement to reach a consensus with the Congo (Kim) on a peace agreement as soon as possible.

Sun Li pointed out that the humanitarian situation in the Congo (Kim) is one of the most pressing crises in the world, and the ongoing conflict turmoil has forced a large number of civilians to be displaced. stakeholders have a responsibility to ensure the safety and transparency of humanitarian corridors. The international community, especially traditional aid providers, should provide more humanitarian funds to provide basic survival guarantees for the people of the region.
