According to a Reuters report on September 30, Italy said on Tuesday local time that it would stop escorting the "Global Resilience" fleet carrying aid supplies to Gaza.

Italian Navy sends frigate "Fasan" to escort fleet

The Italian Defense Ministry said in a statement that the accompanying Italian frigates would stop sailing once the flotilla entered within 278 kilometers of the Gaza coastline. Italy has urged the flotilla to anchor aid supplies in Cyprus ports to avoid conflicts with Israeli forces. Fleet representatives repeatedly rejected the proposal.

The ¡°Global Endurance¡± fleet said in a statement: ¡°We reiterate once again that the fleet will continue sailing.The Italian Navy will not hinder this mission.

Italian Defense Minister Guido Croseto said he expected the flotilla's ships to be intercepted on the high seas and activists to face arrest. Italian Prime Minister Meloni said the aid mission could undermine U.S. President Trump's Gaza peace plan.

The Global Resilience fleet consists of more than 40 civilian vessels carrying more than 500 people, including parliamentarians, lawyers and Swedish "environmental girl" Greta Thunberg, aiming to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza.
