On September 30, local time, the Fashil Resistance Committee, a local organization in northwestern Darfur state, issued a statement saying that the city of Fashil, the state's capital, was hit by fire that day, killing six civilians and wounding 24 others.
The statement accused the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces of launching the shelling. The Rapid Support Forces have not responded yet.
On April 15, 2023, armed clashes broke out between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces in the capital Khartoum, and the fighting subsequently spread to other areas. The armed conflict that lasted for more than two years has killed nearly 30,000 people and displaced more than 12 million people. Darfur is one of the main battlefields of the conflict. Among the five states under the jurisdiction of the region, except North Darfur, the other four states have been controlled by the Rapid Support Forces. Since May 2024, the two sides of the conflict have been engaged in a continuous battle over control of El Fasher. (Headquarters reporter Zhao Yuanfang)
