South African ambassador to France is believed to have been killed in a building crash in Paris, South African Foreign Ministry said

[Global News] According to the British "Daily Telegraph", Reuters and other media reports, sources revealed to the French "Parisian" that South African Ambassador to France Mtewa was found dead near a Hyatt Regency hotel in western Paris on Tuesday (September 30th) local time. The day before, Mtetwa had been reported missing.

The 58-year-old is believed to have died after falling from a room on the 22nd floor of the hotel. The Paris prosecutor’s office said that the wife had “received a troubling text message in the evening” after which she the disappearance to the French authorities.

Reuters said that a Paris police spokesman declined to comment at present. A spokesman for the South African Ministry of Foreign Affairs said they were "aware of the unfortunate reports about Ambassador Mtetwa" and would issue a statement as soon as official news became available.
