Breaking-News >> WorldNews Norwegian official: Looking forward to strengthening cooperation with China in maritime and other fields
Xinhua News Agency, Oslo, September 29 (Reporter Zhang Yuliang) Evan sagbakken, State Secretary of the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries, said on September 29 that Norway will participate in the China International Maritime Exhibition to be held in Shanghai in December this year as the guest country, and looks forward to strengthening cooperation with China in maritime affairs and seafood fields. During the ceremony to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China held by the Chinese Embassy in Norway, Mr. Sagbachen told reporters that despite the geographical distance between the two countries, the two countries have established strong and meaningful ties in many fields over the years, especially in maritime and maritime-related industries. Since the signing of the Maritime Agreement in 2003, Norwegian and Chinese companies have regularly conducted dialogue consultations through the Maritime Working Group to promote cooperation in relevant fields. At the Norwegian International Maritime Exhibition held in June this year, more than 60 Chinese companies have actively demonstrated new products and new ideas, using this world-class industry platform to find partners and explore the international market. Norway will participate in the China International Maritime Exhibition in December, believing that the leading companies in the Norwegian industry will participate actively in this exhibition. Sagbakken also said that China is one of the most important seafood markets in Norway. Last year, Norway exported more than 180,000 tons of seafood to China, and China also approved the import of fresh Norwegian snow crabs. We look forward to deeper cooperation between the two countries in the field of seafood in the future. According to China’s ambassador to Norway, Hu Jia, China has become Norway’s third-largest seafood market, and maritime cooperation between the two countries continues to emerge as new highlights. In the framework of the Green Transformation Dialogue, the two sides signed two memorandums of understanding on sustainable ocean management and low-carbon development this year. China-built 7500 cubic meters of liquid carbon transport vessels provide strong support for Norway’s “long ship” carbon capture and sealing projects.
