China's research team has developed a prototype of early warning detection information system, which is similar to the design architecture of the US "Golden Dome" missile defense system.
The "distributed early warning detection big data platform system architecture" developed by the Chinese team can identify and analyze potential threats through the integration of various sensors deployed in space, sea, air and ground, and obtain crucial information about flight trajectories, weapons types, and counterfeit warheads in real time to provide guidance and support for the interception system.
The team also said that China’s leaps in global threat management data processing technology have played a key role in system development.
The report noted that this is "the first known system to implement a global coverage of missile defense monitoring."Al it is still in the early stages of development, the feasibility of the relevant architecture and key technologies has been preliminarily verified through the development and test operation of the prototype system.
However, the military commentator of Observer Network explained that the "Golden Dome" missile defense system planned to be deployed by the United States is quite different from the "distributed early warning and detection big data platform" in terms of composition and system scale: the former is a missile defense system covering the whole United States, including the orbital early warning system with satellite constellation system as the main body and all kinds of anti-missile interception weapons including space-based anti-missile interception weapons, as well as the command, logistics support and technical maintenance systems for all-round operation of the system; The latter is mainly an information integration system, which mainly emphasizes obtaining and integrating key information of incoming missiles from sensors from a variety of different platforms and monitoring them to provide a basis for dealing with missile threats.
According to the Chinese research team, the initial purpose of the design of the "distributed early warning detection big data platform system architecture" is to solve the long-term technical difficulties of the scattered distribution of current early warning detection information system data resources, difficult to integrate use, and to integrate the massive heterogeneity and distribution of early warning detection information from space, air, sea, land and other multi-domain radar, satellite, optical and electronic reconnaissance systems.
In a peer-reviewed paper published in China's core academic journal Modern Radar, the team wrote, "The prototype system can realize the second-level sharing of data resource catalogs of each node, and all kinds of data products can adapt to network bandwidth conditions to complete high-speed and reliable transmission; It can also realize distributed parallel scheduling of thousands of data processing tasks at each node." Hong Kong media interpreted this as saying that the system can "simultaneously monitor thousands of missiles launched at China from anywhere in the world".
Based on the unified collection and compilation of data products such as the existing various early warning detection systems at the top-node target comprehensive detection trajectory, target detection image, launch alert, attack alert, target identification results, data unified gathering and sharing applications at the information level of the global early warning situation have been achieved.
At present, the prototype system has completed trials at several early warning detection system nodes, unified collection, processing integration and analytical processing of dispersed and isolated early warning detection data in various formats has been achieved, the data products formed can be unified for data resource release, significantly improve the comprehensive governance of early warning detection data, provide strong data support for training and application of various intelligent algorithms, and initially verify the rationality and availability of its system architecture design.
According to the Hong Kong media, some defense science and technology experts say that this may also be a case of “American idea, but implemented by China.”
The United States' "Golden Dome" plan, although it aims to create an integrated land, sea, air and sky multi-space, with artificial intelligence capabilities of missile defense network, but so far has not established a clear technical architecture.
