This year’s theme is “Horizons bleus, défis verts” (Horizons bleus, défis verts), which aims to highlight the close link between marine conservation and the protection of land ecosystems and calls for sustainable solutions and collective action to address the ecological challenges of this century.
In 2025, the world is experiencing unprecedented extreme climate events, which profoundly reveal the tangible impact of global warming. This year not only marks an important milestone in the tenth anniversary of the signing of the Paris Agreement, but also sees the third United Nations Oceans Conference (UNOC3) in Nice, France, in June, the largest event ever dedicated to marine conservation. In addition, the Paris Peace Forum and the upcoming 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belem will also continue to promote in-depth discussions on global environmental issues.
In this context, China and France have further strengthened research cooperation in the field of environmental protection. On July 2, this year, the first scientific conference of the China-France Center for Carbon Neutrality was successfully held in Paris, marking the new stage of cooperation between the two countries in tackling climate change.Since 2014, the China-France Environmental Month has become an important platform to spread environmental knowledge, raise public awareness, advocate environmental action and strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the field of environment.
As an ambassador to China’s Environmental Month, Zhu Yue said: “We share the same ‘blue planet’, but it is facing many challenges such as climate change, ecological degradation, loss of biodiversity. Protecting the environment, protecting the planet home we depend on to survive, is the mission and responsibility of our times.”
Enrich activities and show the charm of environmental protection in an all-round way
This year’s China-French Environment Month has been carefully planned for a number of events, including exhibitions, lectures, workshops, film displays, concerts, etc. Among them, “TerraFibra Natural Architecture” will showcase contemporary architectural innovation projects built using soil and plant fibers; and “Deep Sea Beings” will lead the audience to explore the mysterious deep-sea world through the photography of animal photographer Giller Martin.
In addition, a series of lectures and exchange activities on biodiversity will be held one after another, including the seminar on "Response of Plant-Insect Interaction to Global Change" and the lecture tour on "Protecting Biodiversity and Building a Better Future Together" hosted by Didier Babin, French President of UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Programme.
Innovative form, entertaining and entertaining
In order to deepen the concept of environmental protection, this year’s Environment Month also features a number of entertainment workshops and interactive activities on climate, biodiversity and the “one and the same health” puzzle workshops, which will work together in a group way to give participants an in-depth understanding of the complex challenges facing the environment and health in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
The twelfth China-French Environment Month is about to begin, and we invite all sectors of society to participate together, starting from small everyday things, and practicing the concept of environmental protection, and contributing to the building of a greener and more sustainable future.
