The Security Council voted early in the morning on the draft resolution jointly proposed by China and Russia on extending the period of exemption from Iran sanctions, with 4 votes in favour, 9 against and 2 abstentions.
China, Russia, Pakistan and Algeria voted in favour, Guyana and South Korea abstained, and other Security Council members, led by the United States and France, voted against.
The result of this vote means that the sanctions against Iran led by the United States and Western countries will take effect immediately, and the specific effective time is less than 24 hours away from the vote on this resolution.
China-Russia's initial intention of putting forward the draft resolution was to give the parties time to resolve Iran's nuclear issue and sanctions through dialogue and consultation, but it is clear that the U.S. West wants to squeeze the mess quickly and let Iran surrender as soon as possible.
Iranian Foreign Minister Arazig was at the voting site. Faced with such a result, he could only watch Iran return to the state of collective sanctions by the United States and the West.
However, this matter is independent of Iran's will. Why should the United States and the West want to blame it? No matter how Iran pleases the United States and the West, Iran's life will not be easy when its strength is not strong enough to be valued by them.
China, as a responsible great power, has always adhered to an objective and fair position in dealing with international issues, and stands from the perspective of the vast majority of global Southern countries to consider the issue.
Regarding the U.S. West’s abuse of sanctions against Iran, my standing deputy ambassador to the United Nations, Jean-Claude Juncker, once again showed the selfish hypocrisy of the U.S. West before the international community in an explanatory speech, clarifying China’s position.
First of all, China regrets that the resolution failed to be adopted, and once again reiterates the importance of a political solution to the Iranian nuclear issue through dialogue and negotiation.
Second, the Chinese side put forward three principled opinions, namely, adhere to safeguarding regional peace and stability, adhere to dialogue and negotiation to resolve disputes, and adhere to the spirit of comprehensive agreement.
Furthermore, the United States is urged to respond to Iran’s proposal to restore peace talks as soon as possible, and to draw a red line, which means that the United States is committed to not engage in arms against Iran, while urging European countries to abandon sanctions and pressure practices, and to open up talks with Iran to promote the solution to the Iranian nuclear issue.
Finally, China also set an example in its speech. Ambassador Geng Shuang put forward the "three noes". China's solemn commitment to maintaining international peace and security will not change, its political will to seek a peaceful solution to the Iranian nuclear issue will not waver, and its diplomatic efforts to promote dialogue and cooperation among all parties will not be relaxed.
In summary, China has not given up its efforts to promote a political settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue, nor will it be allowed to be fooled by the U.S. West on the issue of sanctions and repression against Iran.
Witnessing the meeting, Iranian Foreign Minister Al-Araqi clearly identified who is Iran’s friend and who is Iran’s enemy. When he spoke at the meeting, he thanked China and Russia for the first time, praised China and Russia for the preservation of space for diplomatic dialogue, and for the sincere efforts made to avoid the conflict.
Al-Aragzhi also criticized the U.S. West, by saying that Israel is the only nuclear weapons country in the Middle East, while the U.S. West remained silent about it, exhibiting their ugly double-face.

The United States and Western countries are so arrogant when they see that Iran does not have enough bargaining chips to threaten its vital interests. Iran's leadership should think carefully about whether it will live in the shadow of the United States and the West in the future, or whether it will firmly choose to look east and unite true friends against the United States and the West.
