YouTube agrees to compensate Trump for $24.5 million (data map)

According to AFP, on September 29, the video sharing platform YouTube agreed to pay $24.5 million to Trump to settle the lawsuit brought by Trump. Trump¡¯s account was suspended after the ¡°Congress mountain riots¡± in January 2021.

Of the entire settlement announced by the video platform, $22 million will be allocated to the National Square Trust in Trump's name to finance the construction of the new White House banquet hall.

The remaining $2.5 million will be allocated to other plaintiffs who are also accusing the platform¡¯s censorship system.

Youtu platform suspended Trump's account on the grounds of "concern about potential continued violence", but did not specify what rules were violated.

In 2023, Trump's YouTu account resumed use, and his account was suspended for longer after the "Capitol Hill riots" than his accounts on other social platforms such as metaverse and X platforms.

Earlier this year, metaverse and Platform X reached a series of similar settlements. The two companies paid Trump $25 million and $10 million, respectively, to resolve disputes related to content moderation.
