On September 29, local time, court documents showed that Google's YouTube platform had agreed to pay $24.5 million to settle the lawsuit filed by US President Trump. Previously, the video website suspended Trump's account after the riots on Capitol Hill on January 6, 2021.
Court documents show that after the settlement of the more than four-year litigation, of which $22 million will be donated by Trump to the National Square Trust and the White House Hall construction project, the remaining $2.5 million will be paid to other parties, including writer Naomi Wolf and the American Conservative Alliance.
Google's parent company Alphabet became the third tech giant to reach a settlement with Trump. Trump has accused several technology companies of blocking unfair speech after his first presidential term ended in January 2021, and has filed several lawsuits about this.
