On September 29th, local time, US President Trump announced that he would impose a 10% tariff on imported cork logs and timber, and a 25% tariff on imported cabinets, bathroom cabinets and soft wood products.

The new tariffs will come into effect on October 14 and some tariffs will be further raised on January 1 next year.

The U.S. Department of Commerce has been investigating wood and its derivatives (including cabinets and furniture) since March.
