The Trump administration is seeking to cut off federal funding from Harvard through new ways

On September 29, local time, Central Television reporter was informed that the U.S. government was seeking to pass the “exclusion procedure” to prevent Harvard University from obtaining federal funding in the future. The Department of Health and Public Services’ Civil Rights Office wrote the same day to Harvard Chancellor confirming that the relevant procedure had been initiated.

Earlier this month, a federal judge in Boston ruled that the government must restore Harvard's $2.2 billion research funding that was frozen at the beginning of the year. However, due to the deadlock in negotiations between the Trump administration and Harvard on campus anti-Semitism,The White House is pushing through a “exclusion” mechanism that makes Harvard unqualified to do business with the government.

This move may have a significant impact on Harvard's research and funding sources. (CCTV reporter Cao Jian)
