On September 29, local time, Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) senior official Tahir Nunu said in an interview with Arab media that Hamas has not received a copy of the U.S. proposed ceasefire plan so far. He stressed that the weapons of the resistance forces are linked to the establishment of a Palestinian state, while the release of Israeli detainees is linked to the end of the war and the Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.
Tahir Nunu added that Hamas is ready to reach a multi-year ceasefire, has accepted Egypt’s proposal for an independent administration in the Gaza Strip, and will study U.S. plans to protect Palestinian interests.
He also said that Hamas is preparing to reach an agreement with the Palestinian Authority to form a national unity government to administer the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, but that the group has not been involved in negotiations on the current U.S. plan.
