On September 29th, local time, after a bilateral meeting between US President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the two sides held a press conference.
Trump said Netanyahu talked about Iran, trade, the Abraham deal and the end of the war in Gaza.
Trump said Netanyahu had accepted his proposed Gaza peace plan and was very close to an agreement to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip. Trump said that if Hamas accepted the Gaza peace plan, it would require the release of all hostages.
On the same day, the White House announced a peace plan for the Gaza Strip, which proposed that Israel and Hamas end the conflict and return all living and dead hostages within 72 hours of Israel’s public acceptance of the agreement. According to the plan, if the two sides agreed on the proposal, “the war would end immediately.” The Israeli army would withdraw to the agreed line, preparing for the release of the hostages. Once all hostages were released, Israel would release 250 Palestinians sentenced to life imprisonment and 1,700 Gazans detained since the beginning of the conflict on 7 October 2023.
