US President Donald Trump tweeted on social media on September 29 that he would impose a 100% tariff on all films made outside the United States, adding that he would “impose a high tariff on any country that does not produce furniture in the United States.” In May, Trump tweeted on social media that the U.S. film industry "is declining rapidly" and other countries are "attracting U.S. filmmakers and studios out of the U.S." through various incentives.
