According to the Marca newspaper, Real Madrid has been actively involved in the Negreira case, asking the court to include statements from several former Barcelona executives as key testimony.
In recent weeks, Real Madrid has paid close attention to the investigation of Negreira's case, especially what happened during the administration of former Barcelona presidents Bartomeu and Rosell. All the trends in court statements and media reports have been carefully examined.
The most obvious example is that the White Corps has requested the courts responsible for the case to immediately include statements made by former Barcelona senior executives such as Gaspat, Tony-Fresa, Albert-Pelin and Alfons-Godard as key testimonies.
Former referee Harvey Estrada publicly stated on Sunday night that Real Madrid had requested that the statement of the above executives be included in the case materials.
Part of the request reads as follows: "Information is provided regarding public statements about the facts of this case made by a number of individuals who held senior management positions at FC Barcelona at the time of payments to Negreira and its business circle, and who, when speaking publicly about the matter, revealed undoubtedly important details to confirm the corrupt nature and purpose of these payments. Request an investigative procedure to ensure the authenticity and content of the evidence, as well as its relationship with the club. "
FIFA is also closely monitoring the case, which could lead to sanctions if found to be corruption in sports. UEFA has also publicly stated that they let the judicial system go ahead before deciding whether to apply the penalty rules.
In fact, Real Madrid did not stand by, and they carefully reviewed every detail of those years in which Barcelona paid the money to Negrella. Madrid quoted Tony-Fresa as saying: “When the board found out this, they thought it was best to continue doing so in order to prevent the event.”
"All boards do this. The characteristic of Barcelona is that whenever a new board of directors arrives, they cancel all the practices of their predecessors … but this matter has never been cancelled. This matter passed from one president to another: Nunez, Gaspart, laporta, Rosell, Bartomeu …" Toni Fressa confirmed in an interview with Radio Searle.
