Affected by tropical storm Imelda, heavy rainfall occurred in eastern Cuba on September 28th, local time. Many towns, including Santiago de Cuba and Guantanamo, were affected.

Local Meteorological Bureau reports that more than 200 millimeters of rainfall has been accumulated in less than 24 hours at several observation points, and a reservoir near San Diego in Cuba has rapidly increased to 55 percent. The heavy rainfall in San Diego in Cuba has also triggered a mountain slide, killing one person, damaging several houses, and severely affected areas around the river. Currently, the local civil defense department and the weather department have issued an announcement that school teaching activities will be completely suspended from September 29 and calls on people to reduce unnecessary exits until the weather is better.
