On September 28, local time, Iranian Foreign Minister Al-Araqi wrote to several foreign ministers, dismissing the U.S. and UK, France and Germany's attempts through the so-called "rapid reinstatement of sanctions" mechanism to restore the abolished UN Security Council resolution on Iran's nuclear issue.
In this letter to the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Algeria emphasized:The claims of the United States, Britain, France and Germany are unfounded, completely invalid, and without any legal basis.Such actions are not only contrary to the text and spirit of Security Council resolution 2231 but also seriously undermine the status of the Security Council and the credibility of multilateral diplomacy.
In the letter, Aragi pointed out that Security Council Resolution 2231 was adopted by unanimous agreement, which explicitly terminated all previous resolutions relating to Iran's nuclear weapons, and stipulated that the relevant restrictions will expire permanently on 18 October 2025.
He emphasized that,The United States has already unilaterally withdrawn from the Iranian nuclear deal, and three European countries have long violated their commitments, so they are ineligible to invoke Resolution 2231The U.S. and European arguments are essentially a rewrite of international law, abuse of the United Nations, seriously undermining the status of the Security Council and undermining the international anti-proliferation system.
Al-Araqi said that neither Iran nor any member of the United Nations has any obligation to comply with these illegal claims. Iran has consistently demonstrated diplomatic sincerity but will firmly safeguard its sovereign rights and legitimate interests.
