However, it was such an acute force that gradually became the front line, but at the beginning of the war had hopes to reverse the war; and its painful experience of failure has also benefited our country tremendously.
Attack on Kiev
At the beginning of the "Russian War", Russia could be said to have launched a massive offensive on Ukraine in all directions, and everyone thought that Russia's tactics were to "push the way".
But in fact, Russia's first offensive focus was only one: Kiev, and the Russian airborne forces were taking on the burden of opening the passage to Kiev.
As a naturally surrounded army, the Russian Airborne Army, whether in terms of personnel or level of equipment, was excellent in the entire Russian army at the time, so it was very suitable for the task of this breakthrough.
And the selected destination: Antonov airport, just outside the city of Kiev. Although in the face of a huge city such as Kiev, it is not necessarily possible to directly seize by airborne troops, but can use aircraft to open air transport lines, creating a huge threat to the guards of Kiev, making its end incomparable.
Such a raid, accompanied by the rapid rise of Russian armoured forces, is likely to surround all Ukrainian government agencies in Kiev, facing such a lightning raid, Ukraine, even if it does not surrender, will fall into the state of chaos of the "dragonless".
It can be said that if the scenario develops in this way, Russia will soon be able to end the “Russian-Ukrainian War”, but the fact is exactly the opposite.
At first, everything went well, more than 200 Russian airborne troops flew by helicopter from Belarus, crossed the border, broke the defense line, and arrived directly at Antonov airport.
Although some losses occurred along the way, the overall loss remains within acceptable limits.
And the Antonov airport was stationed with only 300 men, most of whom were recruits who had just entered the army; so the Russian airborne forces were easier to control the entire airport.
At this point, however, various issues follow.
It was originally planned that at this time the Ukrainian air force should have been destroyed or at least not be able to take off for a short time to ensure the safety of the air passages established by the air strike forces.
A painful lesson.
At the beginning of the war, Russia's preparations were quite inadequate.
Logically, Russia should dump a certain amount of ammunition at Ukrainian airports, at least the airports closer to the frontline, in order to guarantee its temporary loss of combat power and to ensure the air security of the Russian military.
However, neither the Russian Air Force nor the Rocket Force did this, and some airports were even attacked only by a "Iskander" tactical missile, and not a cluster of ammunition dedicated to the airport runway, just knocked out a large pit.
Under such circumstances, although the Ukrainian Air Force still suffered considerable losses, it still dispatched fighter jets to intercept the Russian air attack forces.
In the face of the threat of fighter jets, helicopters with almost no self-protection capabilities have no trick, and the Russian airborne army's "airway" faces the threat of closure.
At the same time, the Ukrainian aircraft that took off also prevented Russia from carrying heavy weapons and subsequent troops from fulfilling its assignments.
In fact, if the Russian Aerospace Force and the Airborne Army coordinated properly, after the first entry into the Airborne Army forces to seize the runway, it is still unknown who landed the transport aircraft.
However, just after the air attack troops set off, the transport plane undertaking important tasks did not even take off, which directly led to a series of subsequent delays.
At a time when the Russians were slowing down, Ukraine had recovered from the initial shock and began to mobilize troops to siege the Russian airborne landing forces at Antonov airport.
It can be said that in this operation, the Russian military made two fatal mistakes: first, it failed to guarantee the safety of the transportation channels, which caused the subsequent forces and weapons not to arrive on time; and second, the airborne force that entered the front was too weak, which made it impossible to resist the counterattack of the Ukrainian forces.
Faced with this lesson from Russia, our country has also fully absorbed it, and then carried out targeted reforms for our airborne forces.
Absorption of Russian experience
As for the first lesson, it is actually more about Russia's own military development. In our army, which has various types of missiles, sufficient reserves, and close cooperation among various services and arms, the problem of the enemy closing the "air passage" due to various factors is actually difficult to happen.
The second lesson can be said to be an aspect that our army attaches most importance to at present.
If the Russian Airborne Army can carry a certain amount of heavy weapons in the assault, the subsequent development is likely to change as a result; Perhaps it may not be impossible to delay until the Aerospace Forces reopen the "air passage".
In China, equipped with the 03 type airborne combat vehicle family, the basic firepower is only 20 mm organ cannons, facing the infantry is still difficult, let alone facing the enemy's armored forces.
Therefore, there are reports that China intends to import weapons and equipment of the Russian Airborne Army, it is that there are 37 BMD-4M airborne vehicles, 11 "Fish-SD" self-propelled anti-tank guns and BTR-MDM airborne armoured carriers.
And the number of these equipment is not a lot, after all, in the present time our country no longer needs a lot of Russian-made equipment, to carry out large-scale operational tasks, the purchase of weapons is more to draw from the Russian research and development ideas.
It is clear that the imported equipment has been greatly improved in firepower compared to the original equipment of our country's aircraft; and more importantly, the Russian idea of the use of aircraft firepower.
Although this idea is not reflected in Russia's own case of war, it is quite important for the reform of our air defence forces.
The blood flow of the Russian air departure troops at Antonov airport eventually became a practical battlefield lesson - the weak fire could not withstand the defense line, and the military coordination broke the supply channel.
Foreign media looked at the move of "introducing five major Russian-made weapons", but did not see through the key: what we want is never 37 BMD-4M tanks or 11 doors "Chapfish - SD" cannon itself; but the Russian idea in the airborne "heavy fire force accompanied assault", how to turn parachutists from "light-weighted sharp knives" to "heavy-weighted iron fist" that can carry the counterattack and guard positions.
