On September 27, the spokeswoman of the Ministry of Defense of Cambodia, Mariya Jeddah, said that the Thai army began firing on the Cambodian positions in the border area that morning. The Cambodian army remained highly restrained and did not strike back. So far, the Thai side has continued to fire on the Cambodian army and has not stopped.
The Cambodian side said that Cambodia is firmly committed to comprehensively and consistently respecting and implementing the Cambodian ceasefire agreement, continuing to cooperate closely at all levels, seeking practical cooperation to promote peace and stability between the two countries, and calling on Thailand to strictly implement and respect the ceasefire agreement.
On the same day, the Thai Army posted on social media, saying that it was provocatively shot by Cambodia, and the Thai side did not fight back, confirming that there had not been any exchange of fire with Cambodia. Thai state television also quoted the Thai military as saying that there was a conflict.
Earlier in the day, a number of Thai media reported that on the 27th local time, Thai and Cambodian soldiers clashed in the Ubon Ratchathani area on the border between the two countries. Thai media said that the Cambodian side first opened fire on Thai soldiers, and then Thai soldiers fought back.
