According to the latest law enforcement poll by National Public Radio and Ipsos, Americans are concerned about crime, but generally do not support President Trump's deployment of the National Guard to safeguard U.S. city governance.
Malory Newell, vice president of Global Opinion Survey, said:About 70% of Americans believe that the level of crime and violence in American cities has reached an unacceptable level. The U.S. public generally believes that crime rates have increased in the U.S. and its major cities.Actions taken in the name of stopping crime, such as the deployment of the National Guard, are generally not supported.
The National Guard's continued presence in Washington, D.C. has sparked protests, with a federal judge ruling it illegal to deploy troops to Los Angeles. Nonetheless, Trump is still pushing forward to expand the National Guard's deployment as a way to combat crime. Trump said the next target is Memphis, Tennessee.
