Breaking-News >> TodayHistory On April 6, 1969, the Patriotic leader died.
Fifty-six years ago today, on April 6, 1969 (February 20, 1969 in the lunar calendar), patriotic general Zhang Zhizhong died. Zhang Zhizhong, whose character is white, was born in a poor family. In his youth, he was influenced by the Revolution of 1911 led by Sun Yat-sen and joined the army. He supported Sun Yat-sen's Three People's Principles and the three major policies of "uniting with Russia, uniting with the Communist Party, and helping peasants and workers", and held many important military positions. He was a patriotic general with political vision and sense of justice. Zhang Zhizhong has a high degree of patriotic enthusiasm and a strong sense of responsibility for the country and nation. Like many patriots, he joined the army with the aim of saving the country and the people in his early years. He has always believed that it is the bounden duty of soldiers to defend the soil for the country. Whenever the nation faces a critical moment of life and death, he always steps forward and shoulders his own responsibilities. In 1932, during the "January 28th" Songhu Anti-Japanese War, he was the commander of the Fifth Army at that time. Despite the obstruction of the Kuomintang ruling clique, he resolutely went to the front line, fought side by side with the 19th Route Army, and left a suicide note, determined to commit himself to the country. During the eight-year war of resistance, he persisted in the war of resistance to the end until the final victory. What is particularly valuable is that Zhang Zhizhong has never participated in all previous anti-communist civil wars launched by the Kuomintang ruling clique, and is a senior Kuomintang general who has never fought against the Communist Party. Zhang Zhizhong is a far-sighted politician who can conform to the historical trend and keep up with the pace of the times. He has always maintained friendly relations with the Communist Party of China. As early as the Great Revolution, he established friendship with Zhou Enlai, Hui Daiying and other communists. In the struggle between the left and right students of Whampoa Military Academy, he sympathized with the Communist Party, and was once attacked by the right wing of the Kuomintang. Since then, even in the Kuomintang's anti-communist upsurge, he has not followed the tide and changed his attitude. During the Anti-Japanese War, in Chongqing, he spent time with Zhou Enlai, and his understanding of the Communist Party was further deepened. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, he advocated peaceful founding of the country and actively promoted the Chongqing negotiations between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party. In 1945, entrusted by Zhou Enlai, Zhang Zhizhong went to Xinjiang to successfully rescue more than 100 Communist Party cadres who had been imprisoned by Sheng Shicai for many years, so that they could safely return to Yan'an and preserve a number of important backbone forces for the Communist Party. In 1949, Zhang Zhizhong, as the head of the Kuomintang government delegation, went to Peiping to hold peace negotiations with representatives of the Communist Party. When the agreement reached by the two sides was rejected by the Kuomintang authorities, he was completely disappointed with the Kuomintang, accepted Zhou Enlai's persuasion to stay in Peiping, declared that he would draw a clear line with the Kuomintang die-hards, and started a new life from then on. Zhang Zhizhong attended the first Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and the founding ceremony of the People's Republic of China, and saw with his own eyes the birth of the new China that he longed for for a long time. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he held important leadership positions and actively participated in the political life of the country. He always put the great cause of the reunification of the motherland first, and personally presided over the work of the Central Committee of the Chinese Revolutionary Committee to promote the reunification of the motherland. In order to make Taiwan Province return to the motherland, he devoted himself and did a lot of useful work. On April 6, 1969, Zhang Zhizhong died of illness in Beijing, completing his life.
