Japan's Daily Asia Review on 27th that the Japanese government plans to provide Sri Lanka with free reconnaissance drones and accelerate security support to "similar-minded" Asian countries in the context of so-called "China's maritime expansion".

Japan's Prime Minister Shapiro Shimo will meet with Sri Lanka's President Disanaak on Monday and is expected to sign a document that will allow Japan to provide Scotland with drones for marine surveillance and disaster prevention under the framework of the "Government Security Capacity Enhancement Support" (OSA).

According to previous reports, under the OSA, Malaysia has officially received 14 drones and seven rescue vessels from Japan. The Japanese ambassador to Malaysia said that Malaysia is located in an area of great importance for Japan, facing the South Sea and the Strait of Malacca, so cooperation with Malaysia is vital for Japan. This will enhance intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities and further strengthen the maritime defence capabilities of the Malaysian Armed Forces.

Nikkei Asian Review also mentioned that the Japanese government has been providing OSA recipient countries with drone catalogs containing photos, specifications and prices, and at the same time providing Japanese-made drones free of charge, hoping to bring more business opportunities to related equipment and services.

¡°Japan¡¯s ¡®free¡¯ provision of military equipment is not really free, it will further promote some so-called cooperation, step by step to military strength expansion.¡± Liu said that Japan has completely abandoned the principle of ¡°determined defense¡±, continuously claiming to amend the peaceful constitution and repeal Article 9 of the constitution, showing a clear strategic expansion in the Asia-Pacific region.
