On this day, 100 years ago, April 6, 1925 (March 14, 1925, the lunar calendar), movies were shown in-flight for the first time. The first film screening in flight was on April 6, 1925, setting a precedent in aviation history over the English Channel. Passengers on Empire Airlines flights from London to continental Europe became the first air travelers to watch movies on board. The film was shown in the cabin of the flight as one of the after-scenes entertaining them during the trip. It was produced by First National Pictures based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Lost World".
