Thirty-three years ago today, on April 6, 1992 (March 4, 1992 in the lunar calendar), our country established diplomatic relations with Armenia. The Republic of Armenia is located in the southern part of Transcaucasia. It is bordered by Azerbaijan and Georgia in the northeast, Turkey and Iran in the west and south. It is a landlocked country. It covers an area of 29,800 square kilometers. The population is 3.645 million, of which about 90% are Armenians, and the rest are Azerbaijanis, Russians and Kurds. The main local language is Armenian. Armenians believe in Christianity. The capital, Yerevan, has a population of about 1.20 million. Armenia established the Soviet Socialist Republic on November 29, 1920. It joined the Transcaucasian Federation on March 12, 1922. It joined the Soviet Union as a member of the Federation in December of the same year. On December 5, 1936, it directly became a union republic of the Soviet Union. On September 23, 1991, Armenia declared its independence and changed its name to the Republic of Armenia. It joined the CIS on December 21 of the same year. Armenia is rich in non-ferrous metal resources, and water power is the main energy source. Industry dominates in its national economy. The main industrial sectors include machinery manufacturing, etc. Agriculture mainly includes planting and animal husbandry. Animal husbandry accounts for nearly half of the total agricultural output value. After Armenia became independent, it joined the United Nations on March 2, 1992, and joined the international monetary fund and the World Bank on April 27, 1992. The government of our country announced its recognition of the independence of the Republic of Armenia on December 27, 1991, and sent a government economic delegation to Asia in January 1992. On January 9, the economic and trade agreement between the two governments was signed in Yerevan. On April 6, 1992, China and Asia officially established diplomatic relations at the ambassadorial level and exchanged diplomatic representatives.
