In the past five years, Ho Chi Minh City police have investigated 522 cases of prostitution and arrested 2,256 people, including models, actors, hosts, and even “beauty champions.”
The information was released by the police at the “Five-Year Summary Meeting on Combating Prostitution in the 2021-2025 Phase” held in Ho Chi Minh City.
Ho Chi Minh City police reported three typical cracked cases.
The first case occurred around November 2021. Vũ Nguy ễ n Nh ật Vy, a 21-year-old female college student, used social media and Zalo, Telegram and other applications to create private groups, named "sugar daddy" (sugar baby-sugar daddy) to introduce prostitution. Prostitution costs 3 million to 25 million VND each time, 6 million to 50 million VND overnight stays, or organizes a "sex tour" lasting for 2 to 5 days, with an average of 10 million to 25 million VND per person per day.
According to the investigation clues, on April 15, 2022, the police in Ho Chi Minh City conducted a surprise inspection of three hotels and seized three pairs of men and women engaged in prostitution activities on the spot, including the host MC Cao Vy.
The police subsequently filed criminal lawsuits against Wu Nguyen Jiwei for introducing prostitution and imposed administrative penalties on six persons involved in the case.

In the second case, when the police took control of social security, they found that the “1127 Restaurant” in Chengdu Street No. 1127, located in the fifth county of An Đông, was run by a Chinese man named Zhang Lei, who hired more than 100 female waitresses to provide drinks and prostitution services on guest’s request. But female waitresses must have the General Manager’s signature to leave the restaurant. The quick transaction price is 4 million Vietnamese shields per night and 7 million Vietnamese shields overnight.
On December 17, 2023, Ho Chi Minh City police inspected the restaurant and a hotel in Antwerp, bringing back several people involved in the investigation.
After the investigation, the police filed a lawsuit against seven people for alleged prostitution crimes and imposed administrative penalties on 10 people involved in the case.
第三起案件源于线报,警方发现位于第一郡西贡坊(phường Sài Gòn)阮太平街165/76-78号的G&G餐厅向外国人提供卖淫服务。
It is worth noting that in order to attract customers, restaurant owners posted promotional videos on multiple social media platforms, including waitresses dancing sexy dances and clearly marking "low-priced" prostitution services priced at 2.5 million to 4 million VND. Prostitution is usually carried out in upscale hotels or apartments.
2024年7月12日,胡志明市警方对G&G餐厅及两处高档公寓进行突击检查,带回多名相关人员调查。
The investigation showed that the police filed lawsuits against seven people for alleged prostitution crimes and imposed administrative penalties on eight people involved in the case.
At the meeting, Lie Duy Sam, deputy director of the Ho Chi Minh City Criminal Police Department, pointed out that some of the people involved in opening restaurants and KTV attempted to bribe government officials through intermediaries to escape the investigation, but the intermediaries eventually swallowed the bribery.
In addition, in the process of cracking down on prostitution gangs, the police found that a large number of models, hosts, college students and even "beauty pageant champions" were involved.
