February 23, 1899 The birth of German children's literature writer Kestner
On this day, 126 years ago, February 23, 1899 (January 14, 1899 in the lunar calendar), the German children's literature writer Kessner was born. Kastner was born on February 23, 1899 in Dresden, the capital of the Thaxen Kingdom. He was born in an ordinary family. His father was a leather craftsman and his mother made some home-made products. Erich is the only child in the family. The mother naturally turns her son into the only part of her life: she can do anything for her son, because his son should live a better life, and his son should stand out and become famous and have a family. In 1927, Kestner came to Berlin, the capital of Germany, as a drama critic, and in a relatively short period of time, became one of the most famous young intellectuals in the Weimar Republic. That year, his first children's book was published at the Wilhelm Publishing House in Berlin. This children's novel titled "Emir's Capture of the Thief", illustrated by Walter Trier, immediately caused a sensation around the world and made Kesner become a well-known children's literature writer at home and abroad. Kestner later said many times that he became a children's literature writer purely by accident. In fact, Kestner wrote articles for many newspapers while in Leipzig, and since 1926, he has also written for the family magazine Bayer Popular. The magazine has an independent supplement,"Klaus and Clara's Children's Newspaper", and its only editor is none other than Erich Kestner! At that time, he had accumulated three years of experience writing for children, and was famous for writing children's poems and children's stories. He even received letters from many children's readers. Therefore, no master fell from the sky, even if many people liked to claim so much afterwards. Kestner soon began writing his second children's novel,"The Little One and Anton." Given the world economic crisis, this novel has a stronger social critical effect than his first novel. The book was published in 1931 and was put on the stage by Max Reinhart's son Gottfried Reinhart at the end of that year. The following year, the half-fantasy, half-surreal funny fairy tale novel "May 35" was published. In 1933, on the eve of the Nazi Party coming to power,"Flying Classroom" was published. Since then, Kestner was banned from publishing his works in Germany. His books-with the exception of "The Emir's Capture of the Thief"-were removed from bookstores and library shelves and burned to ashes. In 1945, the Second World War ended, and since then, Kestner experienced his second important period. In terms of children's literature, 1949 was a very important year for him. During the year, Kestner published two works of children's literature: "Animal Conference" and "Two Little Lots." "Animal Conference" is a political fairy tale, and the message conveyed by this fairy tale should coexist peacefully among countries. The children's novel "The Two Little Lots" is a family story and a comedy that urges adults to curb their egoism to ensure that children have a happy childhood. In 1957, he published his childhood autobiography "When I was a Little Boy". In the 1960s, he also published two children's novels: "The Pocket Boy" and "The Pocket Boy and the Pocket Miss". On July 29, 1974, Erich Kestner died in Munich. Kestner's work "Animal Conference" published in China; Kestner's work "Little and Anton" published in China
