On this day, 66 years ago, on March 28, 1959 (February 20, 1959 in the lunar calendar), the former Xizang local government was dissolved and the Autonomous Region Preparatory Committee exercised its powers. On March 10, 1959, the reactionary upper-class clique in Xizang headed by the Dalai Lama brazenly launched a full-scale armed rebellion aimed at splitting the motherland in order to keep the serfdom of unity of religion and religion forever unchanged. On March 28, 1959, the central government announced the dissolution of the Xizang local government. The Preparatory Committee of the Tibet Autonomous Region would exercise the powers of the Xizang local government and lead the people of all ethnic groups in Xizang to suppress the rebellion while carrying out democratic reforms. The vast majority of serfs were allocated land and other means of production, and the personal dependence of serfs on serfs on serfs owners was abolished. For the first time, serfs and slaves who have been regarded as "talking cattle and horses" for thousands of years have become "people" in the true sense of the word and the masters of their own destiny and Xizang society. On January 19, 2009, the Second Session of the Ninth People's Congress of the Tibet Autonomous Region decided on the 19th to set March 28 of each year as the Day of the Liberation of One Million Serfs in Xizang.
