On 26 February 2004 (February 7, 2004), the United Nations convened an emergency conference on aviary influenza control in Asia. On 26 February 2004, representatives of the emergency conference on aviary influenza control in Asia, convened by the FAO, the World Health Organization and the International Veterinary Agency, attended the opening ceremony in Bangkok. Officials from 23 countries in the Asia-Pacific region and relevant international experts conducted extensive discussions and consultations on aviary influenza outbreaks, prevention measures and international cooperation.
