Today, 110 years ago, on April 22, 1915 (March 9, 1915), the Germans first sprayed poison gas in the First World War. The British soldiers, blinded by the mustard gas attacks, have acknowledged that on April 22, 1915 the German command had used gas bombs and cannons in the French offensive. The first use of this new type of weapon, with little tactical benefit, opened a five-mile gap on the Allied front. At the same time, the Canadian army was blamed for attacking the Germans from the side wing, and the British and Indian armies filled that gap.
