On January 5, 1942, the United Nations promoted Chiang Kai-shek as Chief Commander of the Chinese War Zone. Following the accompaniment of Mrs. Song Meyeong, Chiang Kai-shek signed the letter of office. On January 5, 1942, Chiang Kai-shek announced his appointment as Chief Commander of the Chinese War Zone in Chongqing, and the Chinese War Zone was formally established. On December 31, 1941, U.S. President Roosevelt officially proposed to Chiang Kai-shek the establishment of the Chinese War Zone and the establishment of the Commander's Department in order to unify the United Nations Armed Forces operating in the Chinese War Zone, Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar, coordinating the relations between the Chinese War Zone Command, the Indian Army Command and the South Pacific War Zone Command
