Flooding in Northwestern Europe on January 31, 1995
Today, 30 years ago, on January 31, 1995 (Calendar 1 January 1995) northwestern Europe was inundated by flooding. Streets boated since late January 1995, continued rainfall has devastated major northern European rivers such as the Rhine, the Seine, the Etshland River. Flooding has hit large lowlands in Germany, the Netherlands, Britain and France, killing many people and forcing hundreds of thousands to evacuate their homes. This was the worst flooding in northwestern Europe since 1953: houses in water.
